Assessment of Health System Readiness and Quality of Dementia Services in Peru: Protocol for a Qualitative Study With Stakeholder Interviews and Documentation Review

Assessment of Health System Readiness and Quality of Dementia Services in Peru: Protocol for a Qualitative Study With Stakeholder Interviews and Documentation Review

Specific challenges for the health systems and people with dementia include developing effective diagnostic services, managing cognitive and behavioral decline, handling multiple comorbidities, caregiver burden, widespread stigma, and lack of awareness about dementia. The concept of tracer conditions can help facilitate understanding the complexity of health systems and the challenges LMICs face [7,8].

Development and Validation of a Machine Learning Algorithm for Predicting Diabetes Retinopathy in Patients With Type 2 Diabetes: Algorithm Development Study

Medical history included comorbidities (hypertension and dyslipidemia), macrovascular complications (cardiovascular disease [CVD], dementia, Parkinson disease, and microangiopathic disease), microvascular complications (chronic kidney disease [CKD] and neuropathy), end-stage renal disease, and cancer.

Prevalence of Musculoskeletal Symptoms in Patients With Hidradenitis Suppurativa and Associated Factors: Cross-Sectional Study

Prevalence of Musculoskeletal Symptoms in Patients With Hidradenitis Suppurativa and Associated Factors: Cross-Sectional Study

Increasingly, evidence links HS, an inflammatory condition, with systemic comorbidities, such as cardiovascular disease, inflammatory bowel disease, diabetes mellitus, and depression [1]. A meta-analysis of more than 200,300 patients with HS found they had a higher prevalence of inflammatory arthritis, including spondyloarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis, than the general population [3].

Tailored Self-Management App to Support Older Adults With Cancer and Multimorbidity: Development and Usability Testing

Tailored Self-Management App to Support Older Adults With Cancer and Multimorbidity: Development and Usability Testing

Our approach was user-centered, with a research team co-led by older adults with cancer experiences and comorbidities. The main limitations of this study relate to the sampling. First, most of the participants were not on active treatment at the time of study participation. Future studies of the app should study usability for those with a new diagnosis using the app for the first time. Second, most participants spoke English, making usability generally easier.

Rates of Trauma Exposure and Posttraumatic Stress in a Pediatric Digital Mental Health Intervention: Retrospective Analysis of Associations With Anxiety and Depressive Symptom Improvement Over Time

Rates of Trauma Exposure and Posttraumatic Stress in a Pediatric Digital Mental Health Intervention: Retrospective Analysis of Associations With Anxiety and Depressive Symptom Improvement Over Time

Youths with traumatic experiences may show increased psychiatric comorbidities and slower treatment responses than their peers with no history of trauma. These findings deliver compelling evidence that collaborative care DMHIs may be well-suited to address mental health symptoms in children with a history of trauma while also highlighting the critical need to assess symptoms of PTS in children seeking treatment.

Prevalence of Body Dysmorphic Disorder in the Spanish Population: Cross-Sectional Web-Based Questionnaire Study

Prevalence of Body Dysmorphic Disorder in the Spanish Population: Cross-Sectional Web-Based Questionnaire Study

Variables related to other comorbidities associated with BDD were comorbidity with dermatologic and psychiatric diseases and cosmetic procedures. Regarding the year of birth, the participants were classified into 4 age groups: 18-24 years, 25-44 years, 45-64 years, and 65 years or older. This classification was based on previous studies related to mental health and the use of these services according to age group [25].

Authors’ Reply to: Using Caution When Interpreting Gender-Based Relative Risk. Comment on “The Effect of Cardiovascular Comorbidities on Women Compared to Men: Longitudinal Retrospective Analysis”

We developed a systematic approach to detect all significant gender differences across all comorbidities associated with cardiovascular disease (CVD). In our paper [2], we reported all risk factors and calculated sex differences as a measure of differences using logarithmic odds ratios between male and female patients in units of pooled standard errors. As a limitation, we pointed out that we cannot rule out specific unobserved confounders as well as the limitations of our in-hospital data set.
